STEVE McGARRY was a regular contibutor to British soccer magazine SHOOT from January, 1989 until the summer of 1997, initially illustrating the RAY OF THE RANGERS strip and then scripting and illustrating THE DIVVINGTON DONKEYS. SHOOT's sister magazine, the monthly SOCCER STARS, featured RAY OF THE RANGERS for a number of years, until STEVE replaced it with his BAKER'S DOZEN strip in 1996. Previously, STEVE had been a regular in MATCH WEEKLY with his GOAL OF MY LIFE and GOLDEN GOAL features. He also created and initially wrote and illustrated the magazine's long-running CANNON strip.

Over the years, STEVE has created a number of sports strips for newspaper, both in the U.K. and overseas. His first strip in this genre was a 12-part series on World snooker champion STEVE DAVIS for Britain's DAILY STAR in 1981. Other features have included STEVE McGARRY's SPORTS SUPERQUIZ and WORLD SOCCER DIARY for THE SUN, SOCCER SUPERQUIZ for TODAY and EYE ON THE PRIZE for THE DAILY EXPRESS. SPORTS SUPERQUIZ was also syndicated throughout the world by UNITED MEDIA of New York.
